Favor Project Update!

Okay ladies and gents, it's time to be critical. Earlier I posted my "fairy in a bottle" keychain, now you will see my "heart piece" earrings.

You remember the material you used to create the world's greatest VOLCANO at the age of only 6 years old? It's time for a flash-back.... This weekend, Andy and I decided to sit down and make some salt-dough. Not only was this a wonderful bonding experience for the FH (Future Husband) and I, but it allowed us a nostalgic release from stress. First, we obtained a salt-dough recipe: Salt-Dough Recipe Link! Then, we sat down and carved out shapes using household tools. (Never underestimate the power of the chop-stick!)

Andy is seen here carving out his very own Triforce!
Our unbaked pieces sit here to dry.
We baked our little "gems" for 3 hours on 250° F, and then let them sit for a day in the open air. I wasn't so sure they would turn out well, but once I painted the heart pieces, I knew we were onto something.
The ocarinas before being painted.
The Triforces before being painted.
Boomerangs!
It's a BOMB! RUN!
Wisdom, power, and courage combined into the Triforce!
It's the Ocarina of time in necklace and earring form.
Two heart pieces and one heart container. Perfect for a necklace and earring combination.
A health potion just in case you are running low.

One of my painted earrings sits in the left hand corner. I'm trying to make it resemble the "heart-piece" in the right hand corner. How did I do?

Going to the Chapel, then going to the Theater!

Now Andy was thoroughly involved with the Drama department at Trinity University. He was always busy with some sort of production, and he loved most of all when he participated as a stage manager. In light of this knowledge that you now know, Andy and I have picked out a venue- THE LIBERTY THEATER!
This is a picture of the Liberty Theater on their 40th anniversary. You can see the stage up front, as well as the lovely decor!

My mother and her best friend Cissi booked the Liberty Theater ONE DAY after a cancellation for Andy and I's wedding date. What are the odds?
I absolutely love the feel of the theater from the outside. It is located in downtown Puyallup, Washington. One of my friends from high-school was married at this exact theater 4 years previously, and I remember it vividly.
Interesting Information about the Theater:
Dominic Constanti built The Liberty Theater in 1924 for $70,000. The Liberty was the most modern theater of its time and was equipped with the latest model projector equipment and a Wurlitzer organ. Other features included seating for 900, a stage, dressing rooms, indirect stage flood lighting and an elaborate ventilation system. In 1999, Tom Neumann remodeled the theater and went to work restoring all of its finer points that had been long since neglected. The seats were removed and the floor and stage received a facelift.
Today, the Liberty is a full corporate event facility and grand event hall, complete with catering, bar, DJ services and complete video and audio production. The theater hosts such events as weddings, parties, dances, live concerts, expo shows and much more. The Liberty is constantly being upgraded with the latest technology to keep this theater “the most modern of its time.”

DIY (Do it yourself) favors!

As you probably know, weddings are extremely expensive.... On top of the cost of the dress, there is an exorbitant amount of money that goes into JUST the cost of the venue. Luckily, Andy and I absolutely love to personalize items! That being said, we have decided to tackle on the project of making all of the favors for our guests. These will include key-chains, earrings, necklaces, and ornaments made to resemble "Zelda" items. Posted below are some inspirational pictures from Etsy, which I hope will help Andy and I in our quest!

This piece is made to resemble a "fairy in a bottle". In most games, Link can capture health-restoring Fairies in Bottles. Link can either use the Fairy to heal him at any time or wait until he loses all life, at which point the Bottled fairy will automatically revive him.
This piece is made to resemble the "ocarina of time". The Ocarina of Time is a recurring item in the Legend of Zelda series. The Ocarina of Time is a unique flute-like instrument secretly handed down for generations by Hyrule's Royal Family. The Ocarina of Time, the Spiritual Stones and the "Song of Time", are the three keys needed to enter the Sacred Realm where the Triforce is found.
This piece is made to resemble the "triforce".
The Triforce is a sacred relic that reappears throughout the Legend of Zelda series. These golden sacred triangles were left behind by the three Golden Goddesses — Din, the Goddess of Power; Nayru, the Goddess of Wisdom; and Farore, the Goddess of Courage — after the creation of the land of Hyrule. It was formed at the point where they ascended to the heavens, in a different dimension connected to Hyrule called the Sacred Realm, which would later be referred to as the "Golden Land." The Triforce consists of three separate sacred golden triangles: the Triforce of Power (top), the Triforce of Wisdom (left), and the Triforce of Courage (right). The Triforce has the power to grant the wish of whomever touches it, and molds the Sacred Realm to reflect that person's heart. The Triforce does not discriminate against "good" or "evil". However, if a person without an equal balance of power, wisdom, and courage makes a wish, the Triforce will split into its three separate parts: the piece that best personifies the one who made the wish will be the only piece to remain in hand, while the other two take residence in whosoever most personifies them. Reassembly is then required for such a person's wish to be granted, but does not exclude another from making the attempt.
So far, I have attempted to make a "fairy in a bottle". Pictures below:

All in all, I'm rather pleased with my accomplishement so far. Feel free to comment and let me know your opinions!

P.S.: I'm still trying to find the perfect material to make the triforce and ocarina. Would it be best to use some salt-dough?

There is a first time for everything!

Hello there everyone!

My name is Allison, and I'm obsessed with Zelda video games!
Phew..... I've said it and EVEN BETTER you're still reading this post. ;) Recently I got engaged to the love of my life, Andy Parker Quirin. Andy and I met during our college days, and spent many date-nights playing Legend of Zelda- making it quite obvious to me that I had found my partner in video game mastery. Coincidentally, this blog is dedicated to the upcoming "I dos, I don'ts, and OMG what was I thinking!" which go along with wedding planning. On top of that, Zelda and Link, will make many appearances throughout these entries, and I encourage you to comment on whichever topic you'd like to be involved with.

Just in case you are not aware of who Princess Zelda and Link are, here is a bio and video to give you a better grasp of these two wonderful characters:

"Link is depicted in some games as a human and in others as a Hylian boy from the fictional land of Hyrule. His age varies in each game, usually varying from pre-teen ages to a young adult. Link often travels through Hyrule, defeating creatures, evil forces and the series' primary antagonist, Ganon, while attempting to save Princess Zelda and her kingdom. To defeat him, Link usually requires the mystic Master Sword and Light Arrows, or a similar legendary weapon, obtained after many trials and battles gathering magical objects or using other items such as musical instruments and weaponry. Each Zelda storyline (normally) contains a different incarnation of Link, as whenever a new threat emerges in Hyrule, a new hero must arise."
